Step Inside Villa Magri

A timeless retreat between heritage and harmony

During the time of the Crusades, the Magri Chapel—built by the Knights Hospitaller in Cuxac-d’Aude—offered shelter and care to weary travellers. It stood along the ancient Via Domitia, a Roman road that once connected Narbonne to the Mediterranean, making the city one of the most important ports in the Western Roman Empire.

This story carries a certain resonance. The spirit of welcome that guided the place then is the same we hope to revive today—less heroic, perhaps, but no less essential in these unsettled times. The name “Villa Magri” is not only a reference, but a promise.

This singular house (140 m², five rooms), carefully restored from a 19th-century wine cellar, offers comfort, privacy and space. It opens onto a tree-lined garden with a shaded patio, and includes a spacious relaxation lounge with oriental accents and a private spa.

The home unfolds gradually, through its living spaces, each designed to bring calm and discretion. Two bedrooms are located upstairs, and a third—completely independent—is set in the garden.

Villa Magri was created as a retreat, a pause, a place to breathe. It invites those in need of rest to disconnect from time and the noise of the world. The house offers a syncretic journey through subtle cultural influences—less told than felt.

Whether as a retreat or a base to explore the rich heritage of southern France, it’s a place to reconnect—with yourself, with others, with a certain way of living.
